2022: Should we prepare for battle?

This post should have been up days ago but either way, it’s here now! Only Christians may relate to it but of course, if you are not, you are welcome to read!😊

I am not sure how I felt entering into the new year. It was with mixed emotions and uncertainty of the future. Scared for me and what I would step into– Every passing day, I am fortunately reminded of the difference between existing and actually living.

To me, it has been a source of great comfort and strength in the day of battle, just to remember that the secret of steadfastness, and indeed, of victory, is the recognition that \”the Lord is at hand\”.

As I grow older, I realise the devil isn\’t on earth to play. He is truly the god of the earth whether we liked it or not. The struggle of enforcing my dominion as a man is also present, not just as an ordinary man but as a man in Christ. There\’s more clarity in Christ but fortunately more trials. More trials because I understand perfection only comes through trials. The clay becomes the best of itself through fire. There is so much to take on, to put on. There\’s also that to put off and to put out, away sometimes.

It was a time of reflection for me; like Jacob struggling with God for blessings but he had his name changed too; visualising my future–running away from it but in reality, running into it, getting angry but trying to stay still with God. What\’s in front of me? Lord, only you are aware. This time, my great question to him was \’should we prepare for battle?\’

This question poured out of my mind in front of my eyes with mixed emotions; joy inclusive.

I haven\’t gotten a perfect answer as God\’s silence could mean something, could mean something special. I wait to unravel God\’s plans and watched as he looked into this book–this book where he wrote my story and that of others. Soon enough, I realise…

Impatience was getting out of the door. Holding unto a thread yet sticking to my heart, notes of prophecy; his promises, there is so much to come to bother about the past or what I only saw before this moment. Looking closely, I could now see the best and even the very best.

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Chorinthians 15:57

I am able to understand that Life is a battle that God already finished in Christ for every believer individually and collectively. We are better off not here on earth but Jesus prayed us here, something needs to be done on earth. Heaven needs to play out on the earth like God wills but it doesn\’t come easy. Does it?

Are you ready? Am I ready?

So I ask you this time; \”Are you prepared for battle?\”

Ephesians 6:11-18

To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace.
